Team Fortress Hunted Map

Published by Kev at 7:58 pm under Fortress Forever, Team Fortress Classic

Those of us that played Team Fortress Classic years ago should remember the map Hunted. Fortress-Forever has its own version of the classic TFC Hunted map. But the FF version is just a little different from the original. As the title of the map implies, the goal of the map is to “hunt” something – and that is the “Hunted.”

At the start of the game players get to pick between 2 teams (Bodyguards or Assassins) and one person can play the Hunted. The Hunted is an unarmed citizen that relies on his team members for protection, and safe escort to the exit zone.  The bodyguards of the Hunted are usually medics, soldiers and the heavy weapons guy.  Their sole purpose in this game is to protect the Hunted.

The Assassins team hunts the Hunted, their only goal is to prevent the Hunted from escaping. Snipers are usually the only class that can play on the Hunters team.  Depending on how the server is set up other classes will be available – such as the spy class.

In this picture we can see the Hunted (the guy in the blue suit) and a soldier bodyguard.

The role of the bodyguards is to escort the hunted to the escape zone.  This means that the bodyguards should always go first when exiting a building, or going into a building. Notice all of the buildings, windows and roof tops – perfect places for snipers to hide. Once the exit of the tunnel has been cleared, then the Hunted can make his way out. On the Hunters team, a smart sniper will stay hidden until the hunted comes out, and then pick him off.

As the Hunted exits the tunnel, he supposed to turn to his right, go up the stairs, into the building and exit the other side. But for some reason this guy came over to my location to see what I was doing. Its important that the Hunted stay with a bodyguard. If for some reason the Hunted finds himself with no bodyguard, his only protection is his umbrella, but that does not help against a snipers bullet.

The bodyguards are supposed to clear a safe path for the Hunted, this means killing any snipers the bodyguard may find. But sometimes the sniper will kill the bodyguard. When a bodyguard respawns, he starts back at the tunnel. The Fortress-Forever developers added a nice feature to the classic Hunted map, the bodyguards can see the Hunted as a red target. So if the bodyguards get separated from the Hunted, they can work their way back to him.

The two towers in the distance are the objective of the game. The bodyguards are supposed to get to the top of the tower, flick a switch that opens the door in the middle and behind the door is a car waiting for the Hunted. The Hunted does not have to actually get into the car, he just has to reach the car.

Once a bodyguard or the Hunted reaches the top of the tower, this is the red switch that has to be activated. Players activate the switch by standing in front of the switch and pressing their use key.  Look at the top right hand corner, and you will see a Hummer.  Between the Hummer  and the water is a speck, that is a sniper who tagged me right after this screen shot was taken.  When the red button is turned, the doors will open and an alarm sounds all across the map that the escape doors are open.  From this look out tower the bodyguard can see the Hunted cross the open area and hopefully be able to spot any snipers.

Even though the bodyguard is exposed at the top of the tower, he can lay down suppressing fire and draw the snipers fire away from the Hunted.

There are a few differences between the Team Fortress Classic and the Fortress-Forever version of the Hunted map. The FF version has a few more hiding areas, has more eye candy and the Hunted has a red dot that the bodyguards can see. But the actual game play and objective are the same between the two versions.
