The Team Fortess community has been divided?

Part of the problem started when an untold number of noobs bought the orange box and started playing TF2.  Most of the new players had never heard of anything else besides TF2.  To this group of new players, Quakeworld Team Fortress, Team Fortress Classic and Fortress Forever never existed.

While in a game of TF2, a player overheard two other players talking about TFC.  The noob said – “There are other Team Fortress games?”  This is the kind of player that has been thrust into the community.

There are two types of people playing Team Fortress:

Old school – the people that played either QWTF, TFC,  FF and TF2.

Noobs – the people that have only played TF2.

I am pretty sure that a lot of TF2 players consider their selves “old school” after only playing one version of Team Fortress for less then 2 years.  Sorry guys and gals, that is not how it works.

The “real” old school team fortress players are the ones that were playing Quakeworld Team Fortress over 10 years ago.  From QWTF they went to TFC and then to either FF or TF2.

If you were to go back in time, 4, 5 or even 8 years ago – there was a mutual respect between the QWTF and the TFC players.  Mainly because a lot of the people had played both games.   But these days, there seems to be a lack of respect from the TF2 players towards those other games.

Left 4 dead burn the witch achievement

Published by Kev under Left 4 Dead

If your looking for a somewhat easy achievement, then Burn the Witch. The witch will usually just sit there until someone startles her. Then she will get up, run over to a player that is close and proceed to beat the crude out of them. The witch might look like she is strung out on crack or something, but do not let looks deceive you. Just one hit is enough to knock a player down. And at the same time, that hit does a lot of damage to your health points.

When you and your team spot a witch – keep your distance, and turn your lights off. If one of the team members has a molotov cocktail, have them throw it on the witch – and get ready for a fight.

Or, look around for a 5 gallon gas can. Throw the gas can next to the witch and shoot it before she gets up. The gas can has to be close enough to catch the witch on fire.

TF2 Spy cloak effect

Published by Kev under Team Fortress 2

Pretty cool video of a spy in TF2.

This is just my personal opinion, but the spys cloak needs to be changed. For those of you that have played Fortress Forever, you know that the spy has a cloak, but is only invisible while standing still. When the spy moves, he looks like some out of the movie “Predator”. Meaning he is still cloaked, but his outline is barely visible.

The TF2 spy with his full invisibility powers needs to be changed.  The cloak gives the spy too much of an advantage over other players.

TF2 Badlands

Published by Kev under Team Fortress 2

The Team Fortress 2 developers changed Badlands up quit a bit from the TFC version.  Some people argue that the TF2 version is better, while others say the TFC version is best.  In the end, it all depends on which game you like.

Watch the crazy scout run around in this video.

Video of a TF2 match in Badlands.

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death released on Steam

Published by Kev under All Other Games

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death has been released on Steam.   So head on over to the Steam page and take a look.

This must be an older game because the processor, video card and memory requirements are rather low by todays standards – Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon 700MHz, 128 MB of memory and only a 32 meg video card.

Left 4 Dead update released

Published by Kev under Left 4 Dead

On March 25 Valve released a Left 4 Dead update that might upset some players.  Besides all of the other minor changes, such as a few crashes fixes, a melee recharge has been added.

After 4 or 5 swings with a weapon, the melee has to recharge before it can be used again.  The recharge looks like the hunters pounce charger.  Its a circle that appears on the cross hairs.  So no more standing in a corner and knocking back hordes of zombies with the melee.
