The details of the Left 4 Dead 2 demo have been released. If you preorder, you can play the demo on October 27th. For everyone else, you will have to wait until November 10th.

In celebration of the release of Left 4 Dead 2, the Elite Gamers Forum is having a posting contest.
Unlike some of the other contest, where the first place winner picks their prize, this one is a little different. The winner can still pick out several Steam games totaling up to a $50 value, or Left 4 Dead 2. In other words, the first place winner can either get left 4 dead 2, or a steam game up to a $50 value – but not both. Special editions of left 4 dead 2 are exempt.
If left 4 dead 2 is delayed more then 1 month, then the winner will have to pick another game or game package within the $50 price range.
1st prize – $50 game or Left 4 Dead 2 or game package from Steam of your choice.
2nd prize – $25 game or package from Steam of your choice.

The Elite Gamers Forum is now offering free clan forum hosting. If you have a clan – any clan, for any game, you can have your own section here on the forums.
How can we offer a free forum section on a VBulletin forum? Well, its through the social groups area of the forum. Social Groups are like miniature forums – they can be public, private or by invite only.
This will give your clan an area to post news and events at. And all at no cost to you.

And we wonder why people want to go into the technology field? This is a cute video of a tech. support guy talking to someone about a website. It looks like it went from a webserver being rebooted to to half the network going down.
I actually laughed when the guy said – “dont use AOL.” There was a sudden flash back to the late 1990s.

Todays high speed connections are nice. And they are really nice when compared to dial up. But, not everyone realizes the risk associated with a high speed connection. A lot of people install a software firewall and they think that is good enough. Sometimes it is good enough, but a lot of the times its not. Some people do not even take the time to install a software firewall. For the best protection against external attacks, its best to have a hardware firewall.
This is one example of what can happen if you do not have a hardware firewall, or if your software firewall is configured wrong.
If you are into computer sciences, or just want to read an interesting part of computer and internet history, go read up on the SQL slammer worm.
The worm was originally designed to start a denial of service attack on certain websites – including the Microsoft Update page. From the time it was first released, it infected around 75,000 computers in 10 minutes. As the worm spread around the world, it shutdown airports, banks, ATM machines,,, it was pretty bad there for a couple of days.
