The different versions of 2Fort

2Fort, just the name brings back memories of snipers, the heavy weapons guy, rocket jumping to the snipers deck, medic infections, the flag room, sentry guns,,,,, and the list goes on and on. For each person the experience is going to be different. So unless someone has played at least 2 different versions of Team Fortress they will not be able to appreciate the history of 2Fort.

For those of you that do not know, 2Fort had several different versions. There was a version of 2Fort that had a long hall going to the flag room. And the flag room was very small, as compared to the size we know it right now. The original 2Fort started out in QuakeWorld Team Fortress. The QWTF version looked more like rock and wood, almost like a medieval castle. The area between the 2 bases was large and open. The ramp room area had plenty of room to move around. The QWTF 2Fort snipers deck seemed a lot larger then the one we have on the FF or TF2 versions.

Taking the elevator to the flag room in 2Fort

This description will work in Team Fortress Classic, Fortress ForeverTeam Fortress 2 and .  The only real difference is that TF2 has a set of stairs instead of an elevator.  So if your playing TF2, just change the name to “taking the stairs to the flag room.”

All three versions of 2Fort have a water entrance, they just look a little different.  The screen shots below were taken in Fortress Forever wile playing solider, but they will give the reader a basic idea of how to do this.  Any class that can conc jump, rocket jump, pipe jump or grenade jump should be able to take this route.

Its easier if the player takes the water route, this usually offers less resistance as compared to crossing the bridge.  Exit the water entrance, go to the ramp room and rocket jump to the top level. Some people have asked “why do you rocket jump, why not just walk up the spiral?” If an engineer has a sentry gun guarding the ramp room, a good jumper can make the jump and get through the doorway before the sentry gun can fire a round.  Also, there will usually be an enemy playing D in the ramp room.  So you want to get to the top of the ramps and through the door before they can get a shot off.

Team Fortress Hunted Map

Those of us that played Team Fortress Classic years ago should remember the map Hunted. Fortress-Forever has its own version of the classic TFC Hunted map. But the FF version is just a little different from the original. As the title of the map implies, the goal of the map is to “hunt” something – and that is the “Hunted.”

At the start of the game players get to pick between 2 teams (Bodyguards or Assassins) and one person can play the Hunted. The Hunted is an unarmed citizen that relies on his team members for protection, and safe escort to the exit zone.  The bodyguards of the Hunted are usually medics, soldiers and the heavy weapons guy.  Their sole purpose in this game is to protect the Hunted.

The Assassins team hunts the Hunted, their only goal is to prevent the Hunted from escaping. Snipers are usually the only class that can play on the Hunters team.  Depending on how the server is set up other classes will be available – such as the spy class.

In this picture we can see the Hunted (the guy in the blue suit) and a soldier bodyguard.
